FAQ

  1. How vital is previous experience? Not at all. The purpose of this studio is to TEACH students to sing, dance, and perform with confidence.

  2. What will the concerts be like? Our studio shows will feature a professionally produced show set which will include all four ensembles. Show sets include sing/dance numbers as well as a ballad, plus costuming and engineered light and sound. We will also have auditions for solo and small group opportunities to perform in these shows! Shows will be on the weekends so that you can invite your family and friends.

  3. What does a show choir show look like? Please click this link to view a Middle School Show Choir set that was designed and directed by Rachel in the past. This is the caliber we will be aiming for: South Spirit Show Choir 2018

  4. What is the difference between registration and tuition? Registration guarantees your student a slot in our studio. It covers admin fees as well as a studio rehearsal t-shirt. Tuition is paid to cover all of the expenses listed in question 10, and is paid at a later date.

  5. What kind of time commitment is involved for my student? For show choir, there will be some extra rehearsals outside of classes to teach choreography, which will be implemented in our weekly rehearsals. These dates are given well in advance and are mandatory. We also want to create a true show choir experience, so the group will be participating in fun team building activities and optional fun events throughout the year. The show choirs will perform in both our Winter and Spring Shows. All dates are on our calendar.

  6. What kind of time commitment is involved for the parents? Parents simply drop their students at rehearsals, as rehearsals are closed. We do ask for volunteers for riser set up and break down, and compensate those parents with free tickets to our shows.

  7. If my student has a conflict with a mandatory choreography rehearsal, what happens? We require all conflicts to be given at registration in order to potentially be considered excused. After this, this only absence should be due to sickness with a doctor’s note. In a professional studio setting, attendance is a priority for many different reasons. Frequent absences can result in sitting out a number. Choreography sessions should be given top priority as this is where they learn the routine and are given a blocking spot on stage.

  8. What does tuition cover? Tuition covers vocal and dance technique training, weekly rehearsals, choreography sessions, any weekend work rehearsals, sheet music, rehearsal practice tracks, costumes, working with a clinician to prep the show for performance, and a discount on any studio workshops.

  9. How is tuition paid? Tuition can be paid up front, or split into monthly payments.
